This is Week 24 of our 52 weeks of Sharing Memories - A Genealogy Journey Journal. I hope you'll join us with your memories! Write them down - you don't have to share them. Your memories can be private - write them in a journal at home, or they can be shared publicly here on OliveTreeGenealogy Blog or on your own Blog.
This week I want to share my memories of childhood lessons and hobbies. As a young girl I wanted desperately to take piano lessons and ballet lessons. But we were poor and my parents couldn't afford them. So that never materialized for me. My sister wanted to take figure skating and she had to save her pennies to pay for her lessons herself.
I felt anger about my lack of lessons for a long time, then one day I thought "why am I whining about this?" so I signed up for guitar lessons - classical and folk. It was great fun and I loved doing it.
Then at the age of 41 I decided to take jazz dance lessons. I loved it! I took the lessons for a few years until my knee gave out. It was a dream come true for me. So sometimes we don't get our wishes or childhood dreams but we can make them happen later when we are adults.
What lessons did you take as a child? Did you enjoy them or hate every minute?
