Regarding the post on the purported newly-discovered 700-year old caves in Shropshire, they are neither newly-discovered or possibly that old. See Snopes article at http://www.snopes.com/knights-templar-caves-shropshire/
ReplyDeleteThey were certainly well-known by 2000 and actively studied and were sealed up in 2012 to protect them from vandals. The caves may actually be no older than the late 1800s.
We need to be careful when attributing ages to man-made parts of the landscape just as we are to documents.
