Check out my NEW revised site for Naturalization Records!

I am excited to announce that I have finally completed my newly revised and re-designed site NaturalizationRecords.com

Naturalization is the process by which an alien from one country becomes a citizen of another country. The naturalization process did not have to happen in one court, or in one location. It was not mandatory and not all aliens became citizens, and not all completed the process once they started it. Naturalization Records are very important to your genealogical research but are often overlooked.

Declaration of Intent William Edmunds 1832

I created a simplified design and navigation system that will hopefully allow visitors to find their ancestors in these records much more quickly.

I have links, original documents, and my transcribed indexes of names for Naturalization Records, Passports, Alien Registrations and much more.

Here are a few links to get you started:

Naturalization & Citizenship Records & Examples

U.S.A. Naturalizations
Canada Naturalizations
American Passport Applications
American Alien Registrations
Canadian Passports
Canadian Oaths of Allegiance
Canadian Sessional Papers

I took me 6 months to redesign and move the site to it's new home, followed by a month of checking and double-checking for broken links. Fingers crossed, but I think I found and fixed them all.

Please take a peek, and if you do find something wrong, I'd appreciate you dropping me a note at olivetreegenealogy@gmail.com so I can fix any problems I might have missed.

Enjoy your visit!

I like what you have accomplished.
Punctuation and spelling errors distract me.
Examples:
No comma after Thus
No comma after However
No apostrophe after siblings
No period after passport indexes
No comma after For the State of Kansas
No space between redindicates
Location misspelled in Locatin of the Records
Misspelling of Libararies
first-time vs first time
entry vs enty in the Abstract
you will receive vs you will received
one-hour vs one hour search

There are 399 pages on NaturalizationRecords.com. I appreciate the eagle eye but unless I know what page or pages these typos are on, I can't fix them.

btw they aren't spelling errors, they're typos. I know how to spell Library, Location etc.

Just found "redindicates" typo and fixed

I've been able to use the site search engine to find the following typos (and fix them)

No space between redindicates
Location misspelled in Locatin of the Records
Misspelling of Libararies

But the missing commas and other punctuation, etc cannot be found that way.

Thank you for this extensive guide, which will make tracking these records down much easier than relying on Ancestry. Must have taken an enormous investment of your time.

Hi Gwen - I hope you find an ancestor or two! Yes, it took far longer than I thought it would but I am so happy it's done, and proud of its new cleaner look. It should be much easier for visitors to navigate.

Great job! If someone is distracted by commas and punctuation in Genealogy, then they are in for a big surprise when they look at the documents! Thanks for all you do and continue to do for genealogists and family historians alike!

If the person who so pointedly/impolitely called out "distractions," has so thoroughly researched and generously shared information on a wide variety of topics to enlighten & assist others, perhaps he or she might have some level of credibility. Please stow the criticism and be kind enough to play elsewhere. Comments such as yours clearly reveal disrespect and a profound lack of gratitude. Shame!
