Ancestry DNA Now Available in Canada!

Two pieces of great news! AncestryDNA is now on sale on Ancestry.com, so grab your kit while this deal is in effect.

Second piece of good news is that AncestryDNA is now available in Canada. At last, we Canadians can buy a DNA kit and discover new cousins. 

I've tested with other DNA companies and have had amazing results. I've found new cousins and revealed family secrets. I've added DNA evidence to the paper trail to my Native American lineage.

The more companies you test with, the better, and now I can test with AncestryDNA. 

Kiss Me, I'm Irish!

I'm dancing for genealogy joy because I have Irish Catholic ancestors. Anyone else with Irish Catholic ancestors should likewise start rejoicing because all of Ireland's Catholic Church records are being digitized and going online!

Catholic Church

The National Library of Ireland is to give free online access to its Catholic Church records collection which date back to the 1700s. This will enable millions of people around the world to trace their roots in Ireland.

Previously the only way to view these records was at the National Library in Kildare Street, in Dublin. Summer of 2015 is the hopeful date for these church records to be online.


My 2nd great grandparents Joseph McGinnis and his wife Fanny Downey will be first on my list of searches in the summer of 2015. What will your first search be?

It's official. Old Reader will stay open to the public.

It's True! 1921 Canadian Census Coming Online Tomorrow!

The rumours started earlier this afternoon on Social Media that the 1921 Canadian Census will be online tomorrow. So I contacted one of my reliable sources for confirmation.

My anonymous source tells me that the 1921 Canadian Census is indeed coming online tomorrow on Ancestry.com and Ancestry.ca

I have no other details at this time but watch this blog for details as they emerge!
