Palaeography: reading old handwriting 1500 - 1800 A practical online tutorial

Thanks to Twitter follower @FPLDGenealogy for passing this link on to me!
" has an amazing paleography exercise area you need to see!"
It is indeed wonderful! There are lessons in reading 15th, 16th and 17th century handwriting as well as 10 interactive lessons. I'm still on Lesson One and enjoying the challenge.

If you have early English documents you will want to give this a try.

What a wonderful website! Very educational and entertaining.....one that I will surely be coming back to again and again. I am anxious to see the will completely transcribed, it is all so very interesting.

Here's another link for old handwritings, from the Yale U Rare Books Library Archivist --
http://www.library.yale.edu/cataloging/rarebookteam/paleography.htm
Covers British, Scottish, French, German (Sutterlin alphabet especially), Italian & Latin sources, with examples, lessons & webinars...
It is also helpful to see how the handwriting in a given language changed in each century! KMC
