Indiana Marriages 1811-1959 online

FamilySearch Labs has added Indiana Marriages 1811-1959 to their online set of Collections at Record Search.

I wanted to write about this a few days ago but became frustrated at not being able to easily find a list of databases as they are added. Even when I found this specific database noted, the text was not copyable!

Don't get me wrong, FamilySearch is amazing and we genealogists should be bowing down before them. But why can't they issue a Press Release or Database Announcement that we bloggers can easily copy? Or have I just missed it somewhere out there on the 'net?

Before everyone gets their hopes up, the index is only 4% complete. It currently includes only four counties: Decatur, Franklin, Henry and Sullivan. This is an index only - images of the records are not online. And I wonder why since the images were used for indexing. Perhaps the images will be available through the Indiana Genealogical Society website someday. We can hope, can't we...

In the meanwhile, the Indiana State library has an online marriage database at http://www.in.gov/library/databases.htm .

The index at the Indiana State Library covers 1811-1850 in one database and 1993-2002 in another one. Both good resources, but not comprehensive.
