Do Humans Have Genetic Memories?

Does this explain Deja Vu? Does it support those who believe in, and swear they have experienced, Reincarnation?

Scientists have found that memories may actually be passed down through generations in our DNA. That sounds so futuristic doesn't it. SS News explains:

"New research from Emory University School of Medicine, in Atlanta, has shown that it is possible for some information to be inherited biologically through chemical changes that occur in DNA. During the tests they learned that that mice can pass on learned information about traumatic or stressful experiences – in this case a fear of the smell of cherry blossom – to subsequent generations."

This article is very interesting. Since starting to put my family together, I have felt that I know my relatives. When I first started to do research, I would rub my fingers over each signature and just feel the connection.

I've also had very strong memories/feelings that i cannot verify such as one at Pearl Harbor. When I went to see the movie, I sat and cried and couldn't stop. All I could think of was my Dad. After checking, I found that my father was not at Pearl Harbor. I knew nothing about his Naval service except that he was in the Navy during WW2. He had already transferred out be fore the attack. This has never left me.

Has anyone else had these experiences and could anyone point me to some additional info?

thx

Since you are a child of a veteran, you could send away for his service record from NARA.

There is a special form for veterans, or family of deceased vets (their unremarried spouses, parents, siblings or children) to apply for the info. The general public uses a different form & likely doesn't get as detailed info due to privacy considerations, depending upon how long ago the service member lived...
